One of the events that makes 30A so special is the annual 30A Songwriters Festival. Since Seaside is located along 30A, it's no surprise that they support the arts year round. In fact, all summer long they've had their Wednesday night Summer Concert Series from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Seaside Amphitheatre. Throughout the summer, notable local bands like Waker, Alvarez Kings, Spot Light Observations, The Georgia Flood, Ryan Kinder, The Brook & The Bluff, and Forrest Williams Band have played in their amphitheater. With summer winding down to a close, there are only a few more left this year. However, if you're visiting the area, you definitely won't want to miss the Seaside Concert Series.
The Courtyard Saints: August 8th
Tomorrow, August 8th, you can catch The Courtyard Saints performing at the Seaside Amphitheater from 7 pm to 9 pm. This local band is originally from Santa Rosa Beach. Mike Whitty of the Thompson Brothers Band and Pale Blue Dot on lead vocals, guitar, and base founded this band with Brad Shankwiler on vocals and percussion. In addition to Whitty and Shankwiler, Trey McLemore and Graham Fitzpen are on drums, and Micah Hulscher is on piano, organ, and accordion. The Courtyard Saints are known for their rock, folk, surf, and original music. The band's current location is in Seaside, Florida, but they tour the area performing their music.
The High Divers: September 1st
The last show in the Seaside Summer Concert Series will be on Saturday, September 1st. The High Divers, an indie rock band from Charleston, SC will be closing out the summer. The High Divers have opened for notable bands like Nathaniel Ratel & the Nightsweats, Delta Spirit, Shovels & Rope, and Drivin N Cryin. Comprised of four members, Marie Alice Connor, Julius DeAngelis, Kevin Early, and Luke Mitchell, the band has won many awards like Best Up and Coming band in Charleston 2015, Top Album of 2015 - Blue Indian, and Top 5 Band out of SC - South Carolina Music Guide. Overall, this is a band you won't want to miss if you happen to be in 30A on the weekend of September 1st.
All in all, 30A loves music and the Seaside Summer Concert Series is a must-see if you're in the area. However, if you're not already planning a trip to Seaside this summer, heading down for one of these nights is a great idea! You can even book a vacation rental home for your trip, so you can enjoy the entire week in Seaside!
